Kodra Khichdi Recipe Kodo Millet Khichdi

Ingredients:
– 1 cup Kodo Millet
– ½ cup Split Green Moong Dal
– 1 small Onion, finely chopped
– 1 small Tomato, finely chopped
– 1 Green Chili, finely chopped
– 1 inch piece of Ginger, grated
– 1 tsp Cumin Seeds
– 1 tsp Turmeric Powder
– 1 tsp Red Chili Powder
– 1 tsp Garam Masala
– Salt to taste
– 3 cups Water
– Fresh Coriander leaves for garnish
– Ghee or Oil for cooking

Recipe:
1. Rinse the Kodo Millet and Split Green Moong Dal under running water and soak them for 20-30 minutes. Then, drain the water and set aside.
2. Heat ghee or oil in a pressure cooker, add cumin seeds and let them sizzle for a few seconds.
3. Add the chopped onions, green chilies, and grated ginger, and sauté until the onions turn golden brown.
4. Add the chopped tomatoes, turmeric powder, red chili powder, and garam masala, and cook until the tomatoes turn soft and the oil separates.
5. Add the soaked Kodo Millet and Split Green Moong Dal to the pressure cooker, along with 3 cups of water and salt to taste.
6. Close the pressure cooker with its lid and cook for 2 whistles on medium flame. Then, turn off the flame and let the pressure release naturally.
7. Once the pressure is released, open the cooker and give the Khichdi a gentle stir. Garnish with fresh coriander leaves and serve hot with a dollop of ghee on top.
