– Welcome to my kitchen where I will be sharing with you my favorite recipe for thakkali chutney, also known as tomato chutney in Tamil Nadu, India.

Ingredients:
– 4 ripe tomatoes, chopped
– 1 onion, sliced
– 2-3 dry red chilies
– 1/2 teaspoon of mustard seeds
– 1/2 teaspoon of urad dal
– A pinch of asafoetida
– A few curry leaves
– 3-4 garlic cloves
– 1/2 inch piece of ginger
– 2 tablespoons of oil
– Salt to taste

Recipe:
1. Heat oil in a pan and add the mustard seeds. Once they start to splutter, add the urad dal and sauté until it turns golden brown.
2. Add the dry red chilies, curry leaves, asafoetida, and sauté for a few seconds.
3. Add the chopped onion and sauté until it turns translucent.
4. Add the chopped tomatoes, garlic, and ginger. Cook until the tomatoes turn mushy.
5. Let the mixture cool down and then blend it into a smooth paste.
6. In the same pan, heat a little oil and add the ground tomato paste. Cook for a few minutes until the chutney thickens.
7. Season with salt and mix well.
8. Serve the thakkali chutney with dosa, idli, or your favorite dish.
