Khara/Ven Pongal | ಖಾರಾ ಪೊಂಗಲ್
Khara or Ven Pongal is a rice lentil dish that is often prepared in south Indian homes.It is also a comfort food and is made often to enjoy with sambar or chutney.
Ingredients – ಸಾಮಗ್ರಿಗಳು – सामग्रियां :
Ghee – ತುಪ್ಪ – घी – 4 tbs Rice – ಅಕ್ಕಿ – चावल – 1 cup Moong Dal – ಹೆಸರು ಬೇಳೆ – मूंग दाल – 1/2 cup Coconut Pieces- ತೆಂಗಿನಕಾಯಿ ಚೂರುಗಳು – नारियल टुकड़े Salt to taste – ಉಪ್ಪು ರುಚಿಗೆ ತಕ್ಕಷ್ಟು – नमक स्वादअनुसार Turmeric Powder – ಅರಿಶಿನ ಪುಡಿ – हल्दी – 1/2 tbs Water – ನೀರು – पानी – 3 cups Ginger – ಶುಂಠಿ – अदरक Cashew – ಗೋಡಂಬಿ – काजू Asafoetida – ಹಿಂಗ್ – हींग – 1 pinch Cumin Seeds – ಜೀರಿಗೆ – जीरा – 1 tbs Black Pepper – ಕರಿಮೆಣಸು – काली मिर्च – 2 tbs
Curry Leaves – ಕರಿಬೇವು – करी पत्ता
