Welcome to Mallika’s Cookery, your one-stop destination for delicious Indian snacks recipes! Today, I’m excited to share with you my all-time favorite recipe for Onion Pakoda, a classic Indian snack that is crispy, flavorful, and simply irresistible.

Ingredients:

– 2 large onions, thinly sliced
– 1 cup gram flour (besan)
– 2-3 green chilies, finely chopped
– 1/2 teaspoon red chili powder
– 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
– 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
– A handful of fresh coriander leaves, finely chopped
– Salt to taste
– Oil for frying

Recipe:

1. In a mixing bowl, combine the sliced onions, gram flour, green chilies, red chili powder, turmeric powder, cumin seeds, coriander leaves, and salt. Mix well to coat the onions evenly with the flour and spices.
2. Gradually add a little water to the mixture and stir until it forms a thick batter. The consistency should be such that the onions are well coated with the batter.
3. Heat the oil in a deep pan over medium heat.
4. Once the oil is hot, drop spoonfuls of the batter into the oil and fry the pakodas in batches until they turn golden brown and crispy.
5. Remove the fried pakodas with a slotted spoon and drain them on paper towels to remove excess oil.
6. Serve the hot and crispy Onion Pakodas with chutney or sauce of your choice and enjoy!
